Happenings for the past two months - May and June
This is a young man we taught and he was baptized. Keith Delmar. I was ready to give up on him but Elder Hunsaker kept at it and soon he was ready. He had been given a Book of Mormon by our Branch President and was already reading it when we started to teach him. He is a changed man.A sweet sister Flora Whitehat, a Branch member, helping Sister Hunsaker with the fencing around the garden.
Some Branch members painting lids to hang in their kitchens. This was part of a monthly FHE that the Branch holds. Notice that the kids participated as well as the Moms. The men just wait around until the food is served.
Sometimes we have had to dig by hand, water, and then the ground would be ready for the tiller. The Sister in the foreground is a very hard worker. She helps as an aide at the school at Navajo Mt. I'll post a couple of other gardening pictures below.
Planting potatoe sets
This good brother is helping a neighbor by installing an outside faucet so they could water their garden.
Valentina was baptized in May. She has an older sister who was baptized several years ago but is inactive. Valentina should have been baptized a month ago, but her parents were in a car accident and so we waited until they were well enough to attend.
Valentina's younger sister playing the flute. The older sister and Mother (in the pink) and grandma (back row) are in the picture
Our Stake Relief Society President came out for our FHE in May. Next to her is the Mother of our Relief Society President. She speaks only Navajo.
Sheep shearing time on the Reservation. Hope you can see well enough to see that they use hand clippers. There were about 20 people helping to shear our Branch President's sheep that day. We just observed and took pictures.
We took a morning off a couple of weeks ago and went on a hike to Lower Antelope Canyon. This is a sample of the beauties we saw.
We are again finding time to do more teaching. We are having experiences we never dreamed we would have, but each is unique in its own way and we are learning and growing and hoping that our service here will make a differece. It has made a huge impact on our lives already.
