February Mission Experiences

Bluesalt Branch Valentine dinner - Branch President and his wife on the right.
They have their dinners on Sunday after block time so that more people will attend.
It was a successful dinner and the food was delicious.  We have had fry bread
and also have had Navajo Tacos which were delicious.
Our Mission President and his wife, President and Sister Jones
We met them for the first time at Zone Conference the
24th of February.

In St. George with our grandson, Drake.  Lindsay and Robert
brought our car down for us and we met in St. George.
It was great to be with family.

It is time to start gardening.  Here I am breaking up
old grass clippings to help break up the soil.
Calvin gathering the clippings that were thrown into
the weeds last year.
The Branch owns a tiller.  Calvin running the
tiller over the ground after we added the
grass clippings
Of course I had to try my hand at running the tiller.
It wasn't too hard.  It did a good job of tilling
deep and mixing in the grass clippings.
We had a wonderful Zone Conference with 39 Senior Missionary couples in attendance.  We enjoyed a wonderful potluck meal and had some great instruction.  Our current President will be released the first of July.  Our new President's last name is Batt.

We had a wonderful trip to St. George the first part of March.  The trip was mainly to get our car that Lindsay and Robert brought down, but we did enjoy a temple session and thoroughly enjoyed being with family.

Calvin wanted everyone to see that we do have divided
highways in our mission

This is a Stake Dance held in Kaibeto - We were hoping
for some of our youth there, but we gave them
the wrong date.

Even though the travel is sometime rocky, the work is going great and we are finding many people to teach.  Our experiences have been worthwhile and many very spiritual.  As many of you already know, I am also teaching piano to about 17 students.  The hope is that they will become good enough to play in the Church meetings.

I am spreading grass clippings in the garden.  It was great to be out working with the soil again.

Calvin hauling the clippings.  We were glad to find some in the weeds just beyond the church parking space.

Some of our time is taken up with gardening.  This garden is right behind our trailer.  It is a plot 30' x 30'.  We will be able to grown a lot of vegetables in this plot.  There are about eight current gardens in the Branch and we hope to have at least that many additional ones this year.  The Church is trying to help these people become more self-reliant.
