MTC experience and first weeks in our mission

We were set apart by Pres. Thurgood Jan. 15, 2012
Elder and Sister Robinson from Parowan - going to Philipines

Our District at the MTC

We had a very enjoyable experience at the MTC in Provo, Utah.  There were thirty plus couples in our group and they were going to missions all over the world.  There were three couples going to the Phlipines but all to different areas.  The training was excellent and the peope we met were wonderful.  We had fun teaching experiences and heard some strengthening experiences from couple missionaries.  Above are a couple of pictures from the MTC.

We arrived at our mission site in a snow storm but we were met by our Zone Leader who made us feel welcome.  We unloaded our truck but not the truck bed.  The trailer was warm and we were glad for that.  We have been busy meeting members, learning customs, and enjoying hearing the Navajo language.  The people are very kind and accepting and when you knock on their door they usually yell "Come in" only most of the time it is in Navajo.  We are currently teaching several young children and we have visited many homes.

We have a convenience store close by and that is where our mail is delivered, but to buy most of our groceries we travel to Page which is 60 miles away.  We are very isolated as far as other conveniences are concerned.  There is a clinic four miles down the road.  No one here has a physical address.  You find people by GPS coordinates or by mile post markers.

Our Branch President, President Bryant has been very gracious with his time.  He has taken us around to several areas to show us where members live.  We then go back and try and find the places on our own and sometimes we succeed and sometimes we don't.  This Branch covers about 50 miles by 30 miles.

  1. Wow, I can't believe you are there! You will have such wonderful choice experiences, as you have such wonderful attitudes and so willingly serve. Love the pictures of the hoggans!
